FERTILITY ENHANCING
Infertility affects 1 in 10 couples who are trying to conceive. Some of these women might have tubal damage, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, uterine abnormalities, fibroids or polyps. They require fertility enhancing surgeries to restore fertility. It could be diagnostic or operative hystero-laparoscopy.
Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy are important tools used to investigate women with infertility. They are the standard of care for fertility enhancing surgeries. Minimal access surgeries are day care procedures with shorter hospital stay and early patient recovery

It is an integral part of evaluation which allows visualization of abdominal and pelvic organs and helps in diagnosing some of the causes of infertility and treat them. Assessment of patency of the fallopian tubes is done by instillation of dye. Laparoscopy detects endometriosis, scarring, fallopian tube damage, adhesions, ovarian cysts, fibroids, congenital abnormalities and polycystic ovaries. fertility potential. OPERATIVE HYSTEROSCOPY
The operative procedures performed through hysteroscope for treating infertility are as follows:
- Removal of fibroids and polyps within the uterine cavity
- Cannulation of blocked fallopian tubes
- Corrections of malformations of uterus (e.g. septum)
- Removal of adhesions
OPERATIVE LAPAROSCOPY
The objective of these procedures is to treat the causes of the infertility to enhance the fertility potential. The following procedures might be required:
1.Tubal Surgery
Damage to the fallopian tubes prevents the egg from reaching the uterus.
Adhesiolysis – done to free the tubes from adhesions due to previous surgery, infections or endometriosis.
Tuboplasty - Unblocking the fallopian tubes.
Salpingectomy- Occasionally tubes might need to be removed if they are badly damaged. This procedure is done prior to IVF to increase the success rate.
- Removal of fibroids and polyps within the uterine cavity
- Cannulation of blocked fallopian tubes
- Corrections of malformations of uterus (e.g. septum)
- Removal of adhesions
2. Ovarian procedures
- Ovarian drilling for treatment of PCOS
- Endometriotic ovarian cyst (chocolate cyst) removal
- Other benign ovarian cyst(s) removal
3. Myomectomy
Removal of fibroids
4. Other pelvic procedures-
- Treatment of pelvic endometriosis
- Mobilization of fallopian tubes and ovaries from bowel and pelvic adhesions.
